AN INVITATION TO GIVE A
BREAKTHROUGH LECTURE
Awake.net is seeking mentors and masters with entheogenic or other transformational wellness experience from clinical, shamanic and therapeutic disciplines to donate a Breakthrough Lecture in their area of expertise to our inaugural class of FEAT applicants starting January 2023.
WHAT IS FEAT?
FEAT is the Fund for Entheogenic Addiction Treatment, a charitable program administered by Awake.net, a 501c3 social impact network with the core mission of ending opioid addiction by providing a Healing Grant of up to $8k per individual to pay for an ibogaine or other entheogenic treatment, a series of integration sessions with various providers, and a nine-month online course called Change Your Character: Nine Hexagrams for Rebirth, based on the I Ching.
WHY THE I CHING?
Change is the only constant, says the I Ching, an ancient philosophy originating in China that is relevant to our time because it gives us a way to understand human behavior and the nature of reality. The 64 hexagrams that form the iChing are built of four binary pairs, just like the letter codons AT UC GT AG which form the entire 64 pair DNA sequence. If the DNA code is a blueprint for Life, the I Ching seems to be a blueprint for Consciousness. Another relevance to our time is that Liebniz, the man who discovered the 01 binary code that forms the basis of computing derived it from the I Ching.
Ten years ago I was introduced to nine hexagrams for character development. During my several year study of these nine hexagrams, I had many epiphanies, insights, transformations, and gained valuable self-knowledge that molded me as a person. These hexagrams will form the backbone of this course. Each month we will read and discuss in class one hexagram and it’s offshoots. We will study nine such hexagrams in sequence as a framework and philosophy for change and right-action, and as a way to ground the transformations initiated in the altered state into a new way of being in the world.
INTEGRATION
Integration is the pain point with ibogaine treatment. Ibogaine works reliably given the right dosage to interrupt opioid or other addictions and offers a three-month cushion in the form of nor-ibogaine slow-released in the fat cells. However, in order to sustain the amazing rebirth and freedom from addiction that ibogaine has delivered, the person has to have an actionable plan for change, often this might include — change of address, change of environment, definitely change of self — and this is where the community of mentors and masters and fellow journeyers come in. We need community to support our own radical change.
This process of change and grounding the transformation in one’s day-to-day life and way of being is the promise of integration, and the promise of the Change Your Character integration program with its access to both local and global mentors and masters and their collective wisdom.
Together we can save lives and help transform society.
BREAKTHROUGH LECTURES
The nine month Change Your Character course will be populated by Breakthrough Lectures given by mentors and masters from the entheogenic community. The lectures fall into three broad categories: Preparation, Navigation and Integration, and are intended to quickly create a body of collective knowledge that can give people not only self-healing tools but access to teachers, guides, therapists, nutritionists, breathworkers, energy workers, bodyworkers, philosophers, poets, integration coaches and last but not least entheogenically experienced doctors.
Each box on this chart represents one spot for a Breakthrough Lecture during the nine-month period from January to September 2023. The overarching I Ching hexagram associated with that month is highlighted in the yellow boxes to the left. There are seven spots each month for a Breakthrough Lecture. You can align with the hexagram’s message or keywords provided to decide what topic you want to speak on, or simply use the blocks for calendaring purposes. Either way we will let synchronicity arrange the syllabus. | ||||||
